K-5 General Music:
In these classes the students will be challenged to feed their creativity and musical minds learning concepts such as note reading, rhythm reading, composition, deep listening skills, sight reading, expanding their knowledge of musical genres and cultures, and discovering different ways of creating music through a multitude of instruments.
The sixth grade choir will be learning about and singing harmony and cover concepts such as sight reading, note reading, rhythmic notation, and learn how to effectively portray different styles and genres of music. They will focus on rounds and two-part harmony as well as learning how to read music, play the piano, and more! They will also learn ways to appropriately take care of their voice to be a lifelong singer.
The main focus of this class is growth and the students do not have to be the best singer starting out!
7/8th Grade Choir:
The 7/8th grade choir will be learning about and singing harmony and cover concepts such as sight reading, note reading, rhythmic notation, and learn how to effectively portray different styles and genres of music. They will also be focussing on two to three part harmony, learning to play the piano, anf more!They will also learn way sto appropriately take care of their voice to be a lifelong singer.
The main focus of this class is growth and the students do not have to be the best singer starting out!
HS Choir:
High school choir students can expect a deeper dive into concepts such as keys, meters, tonal harmony, chords, reading and playing their own parts, sight reading, composition, and more. Depending on the size, they can expect to sing anywhere from 3 to 6 part harmony and are able to hold their own at their particular part. We also cover how to effectively take care of the voice while performing in many different genres and styles of music.
The students will also be offered many opportunities such as A Capella groups, Show choir, and potentially Theatrical Shows. The main focus of this class is growth and the students do not have to be the best singer starting out!
Students will also take part in Solo Ensemble, voyages to UWSP, vocal lessons, singing to those in the nursing homes, and more! They are granted many opportunities and the program is growing!
