Supervised Work Experience/Apprenticeship

What is Supervised Work Experience and Youth Apprenticeship?

Students in grades 11-12 are able to participate in Supervised Work Experience or Youth Apprenticeship. When students are current with graduation requirements, they are able to leave for part of the school day to go to work. Students are employed at many different places, including farms, restaurants, health care facilities, animal shelters, and more. Students will keep track of hours worked and report to the ACP coordinator in the district. 

Students participating in Youth Apprenticeship complete many of the same requirements, but also have to be in a class that is related to their YA position. For example, a student working in a retail store may take a class in marketing or business management. Students enrolled in YA also receive a Department of Workforce Development certificate of completion upon  working 450 hours (1 year) or 900 hours (2 years).

Students who are interested in either program should speak with either their school counselor or ACP coordinator.
