In Kindergarten, we learn a lot!! In the beginning of the year, we focus on letters and the sounds they make. We learn these through reading books and doing phonetic activities in class.
As the year progresses, we take these sounds and start "blending" them together to make words. At the same time, we are learning sight words which are words that can't be sounded out. We work on taking these sound out words and sight words to build a foundation of reading! It is so fun to see the excitement when they are learning to read!
We also spend a lot of the year working with numbers, groups of 5 and 10, and partners. We learn how to add and subtract, place value and about shapes (2-D and 3-D).
We enjoy helping each other learn!
