- After high school, what did you do, where did you go? I went to UW-Oshkosh got a bachelors in Radio/TV/Film and a minor in Business. Right after college I got a job in Radio Sales. I learned sales is not for me. I spent the next 2.5 years working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in several cities (Oshkosh, Appleton Airport and Marshfield). I learned a lot about management and running a business. I moved over to Associated Bank and worked in many roles over 14 years (Customer Service Call Center, Branch Call Center & Standard Operating Procedures department). It was while I was working at Associated that I went back to UW-Oshkosh and got my Masters in Business by taking night classes. (I even ran into another Granton Alumni in my classes.) I got married in 2011 to Jonathan Jordan and had a daughter, Sarah in 2014.
- What are you doing now? In May 2022, I made a huge leap and left Associated Bank. I am now a Process Improvement Analyst at Prevail Bank in WI Rapids. I will be identifying and leading projects to improve processes at the bank. Prevail Bank started by a merger of River Cities Bank and Time Federal Savings Bank. As any company after a merger, there are inefficacies in processes that cost the company time and money. It is my job to find those things and lead changes to fix them. Sarah is going into 3rd grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in WI Rapids. We are all loving the small school atmosphere. It is actually smaller than Granton, but it is really nice to have a similar feeling of family at school. My husband, works in IT at the same bank as me. We are the first married couple to work at the bank at the same time in years. It is working out very nicely because we live in Plover and the whole family gets to carpool in the morning to go to work & school.
- What is your fondest memory from Granton School? It is hard to pick just one. Looking back I loved band, choir, FFA activities, Forensics & Yearbook. I have fond memories for each one. Band – So many memories. Eating lunch in the band room. Practicing in the practice rooms. Honors Band. The list goes on and on. Choir – Going to State Solo & Ensemble for my vocal solo., Honors Choir. FFA – Being Chapter Secretary, State FFA Choir, PALS Training in Door County, Parli Pro. Forensics – Going to State Forensics helped so much to build my confidence in speaking in front of groups. Yearbook – This group sparked my love of photography and I loved working on photos in the dark room in the Tech Ed classroom (I’m so sad the dark room isn’t there anymore.)
- What do you think were some of your greatest accomplishments during your time at Granton School? Yearbook Editor, Choir and Band solo & ensemble awards, Honors Choir and Band, FFA Secretary, Honor Role, Forensics.
- Which teacher left the biggest impact on your life and why? Ms. Celia Sturzl opened my eyes to music I spent so much time in the practice rooms. Mr. Gill Williams opened my eyes to video production and inspired my study of Radio/TV/Film in college. Mr. Marty Yohn taught me to develop 35mm film. I still love to take pictures. Mrs. Vasquez taught me to love math! I really liked how math was taught. I know the style didn’t work for everyone, but learning how to write a paper with math in it really helped me in college.
- If you could give one piece of advice to our current students, what advice would that be? Granton may be a small school but take advantage of every opportunity presented. You never know which one will point you to your career. The teachers support you, the parents support you, the town supporters you. Be proud of your school, it has a proud history.
